All good things must come to an end
Hot water lapped at her sides, and she dove in, unsure of her every step but moving forward regardless. Her cloven hooves scraped along the gravel base of the hotspring, and she ventured closer to Torleik regardless, his height greater than hers and providing stability. A simple not was a sufficient answer to his statement, agreeing sincerely. The black pits threatening to pull her down, down deep into the abyss were now places of comfort, thanks to Torleik. As she stood, letting the water permeate her skin and relax along her spine, she took a deep breath, gazing up into his deep, blue eyes. Bewilderment. She was absolutely bewildered by him. The night sky overhead filtered through the clouds, and the shards of stone, permanently captured in the fibers of her hair, sparkled like stars. Gently, unsure, she let her body fall against his, watching the black-blue of the sky slowly begin to fade to light. Words were unnecessary, and she exhaled a frosty, white breath, pink and orange tones beginning to hum into day. Responsibilities and the rest of her life lay ahead, and she could not stay here in these waters forever. Ophelia turned and smiled at Torleik, striding forward slowly. “Day,” she murmured. “I should go.” And yet she stayed, even for a few moments. Seconds later, she tore herself from the waters and walked out, shaking out her coat and feeling the chilly bite of the morning nip at her body. There at the edge, she waited for him to exit the waters as well, so that they could walk side by side into the dawn. [[outro!]] |
