Paladin wearily moved through the tall timbers of the Foothills, admiring the beauty of this place, but now he saw the darkness. This wickedness resided in the hearts of its members, and that was a darkness for wich he did not have a light. It seemed that he lacked the charisma to inspire the smaller group of whining, reactive children, and the warrior stallion found shame in that fact. He was ashamed of himself for lacking the leadership that they desired, and he was ashamed to call himself their leader, for he did not want to be responsible for their brash and foolish behaviors.

The scars on his body hurt less now, but he lacked a mane. Nothing but a line of white stood atop his thick crest, and he hoped that when his mane grew and fell over on his neck that it would cover the burn marks. For now, the scorched skin ran from his shoulder and up to over his face, though the skin was mostly healed now - just raw. Poppy was an excellent healer, and he made a note to remember to thank her for all of the work she did.

With a heavy sigh, he moved to the borders of the Foothills and saw a familiar character. Mirage. She held deep wisdom and calm, and though he could tell that she would miss Gossamer, she respected his warrior's claim to leadership. Paladin appreciated her rationality as well as her spirit, and he nodded to her, letting her know that he recognized his presence.

The stallion picked up a brisk trot, hearing that she sought an audience with him, and he answered. Calmly, he moved into a walk, striding up in front of her before bowing his head in respect. Her golden eyes were quite beautiful, and he wondered why she was not spoken for by a stallion yet. Perhaps she was too strong to need the embrace of another, and if so, he would admire her for that too. Not many could deny the pull of love for leadership; he was not immune to the call.

"Greetings, Mirage," he said quietly, his brows furrowing over crimson eyes when she seemed conflicted. Or at least, that is what he saw. "Is something wrong?" His deep voice was laced with concern, and despite the cruel words of others, Paladin was a deeply kind individual. The stallion would serve his followers to his death and do anything within his power to ensure their safety.
