So lost in her made up song there was no thought in her about possibly attempting a more graceful stroll through the breathtaking area. Or it was supposedly a stunning area; she tossed her head into the air bobbing it from side to side in rhythm to her humming. Rei even had her eyes closed. The pegasus was oblivious to her surroundings. A squirrel weaving in-between her legs screeching at her for venturing too close to its home jolted Rei back to the real world. Her eyes flashed open and widened in shock before clamping shut again. A crowd had surrounded a body. Why had she not noticed the smell sooner? Had she really allowed herself to become so distracted? First one eye slowly opened while the other scrunched up tighter before following the other's lead. Rei looked at those who had gathered. There were no mournful cries, no one was demanding vengeance. Those gathered didn't seem to hold much of any emotional connection to the unicorn that laid before them. They were looking her over. Then it dawned on her. This was another one of the mystery murders. It wasn't long ago that she had spoken with Midas about dragging the killer to justice herself, but seeing death before her brought his words of caution to mind. Rei took a moment to steady herself and with a gulp she plucked a few flowers to be placed on the dead mare's mane before stepping forward to look at the muddled clues left behind. |
