Her talk with Ophelia inspired her to remember what freedom was, to once again crawl from the depths of the Edge to explore Helovia. She thought, as she wandered, that she really ought to go to the floating island and check upon the tent. But then… she really ought to do a lot of things. And none of those things that she could think of that she ought to be doing, could be thought of without images of shackles and chains, cages and clasps, dancing at the edge of her vision. So today, even though she had plenty of things she needed to be doing, she was going to do what she wanted. At least… she was going to do what she thought she wanted.
Funny, how quickly ideas and plans for the future get changed… Kahlua arrived at the scene, noticing the many faces and hoofprints of those who had come and gone. Another murder, another mystery, another body lying on the ground. So much death, and her and the others had been unable to solve this travesty so far. But she had faith. Resplendence and Jahzara and Nayati and she would get to the bottom of this. There had to be a solution. Something they were missing, something they were misunderstanding. She looked and looked. Last time she had seen a body there was sand, but for all the quick glances she dared to take at the dead body she could see nothing but charred flesh. It made her sick to her stomach.
