Lakota
Her smile makes you wonder where she's been

Changing back is almost as bad as the previous process, for instead of shrinking she is inexorably expanding. She wants to scream, because it doesn't really hurt but it aches. It feels so profoundly wrong that she wants to wrench away from it, and yet she cannot. It is over as soon as it began, and she is left winded and standing on shaky legs, a foal in the water as she breathes heavily upon the surface of the arena she'd been trapped within mere moments ago. Ripples form beneath her exhales, until she is steady enough to lift her head.

Before her is Ktulu, in the form she was meant to be in, and Lakota stumbled towards her on knees that begged for a moment longer. Lakota firmly denied them that chance, the drive to check over her mate for lasting effects (or Gods forbid injuries for she would tear apart an immortal regardless of her status) far stronger than the flimsy needs of her body.

The touch of her mate is like an exodus of all her worries, and she breathes in the natural scent of the Constrictor, feeling tension ease from her marrow like the water that drips off her hocks. "Are you okay?" she breathes, circling her mate quickly, as close as she dares without losing too much of her sight to ensure there is no lasting damage on her beloved's body. A lopsided grin comes to her lips when there is nothing found, and she laughs a little bitterly, trying to lighten the mood. They would need it, for the next trial that was surely waiting in the wings.

"Well...that was fun?" A total lie, but she trusted Ktulu to know her well enough to read the attempt between the lines. They needed to be secure, steadfast, and await the next judgment they would have to face. Lakota was not so easily beaten, and she wasn't going to give up on the one thing that would make her happy. She already knew Ktulu would match her step for step, and there was no doubt that they would triumph in the end. "That was pretty fucked up, though. You okay?" Lakota could not even imagine how hard it must have been for Ktulu, as the predator in the situation, and concern flooded her gaze as she murmured it quietly for only her mate to hear. As if there were any other present.
