A pride of cougars was speaking beneath a low hanging rock structure, and the lead female hissed angrily, the growling sound coming from her throat vicious and dark. "You fool! You let it escape?! " she howled angrily, lunging at the upstart young male.
He growled in response and cowed into the rock structure, baring his massive fangs in defense. "You try chasing a fucking deer all my yourself and expect to take it down! I did not see you there trying to help!" His voice was furious as well, but also weary. You could tell that he was growing tired of this.
"We are being watched, Lady TallFang..." trailed a quiet female voice and the small pride of five moved from behind the rock structure to stare at the equine standing there all alone. "She's all alone with no wings or a horn. Can we eat her?" whimpered the second female.
"NO! You fool! We made a vow with the Earth God to not harm the equines here, no matter what shape." Replied the Lady TallFang.
"Smart. There are more of them then there are of us, but the Earth God has not helped our hunting party one bit." The male growled, eyeing the mare suspiciously.
None of them expected her to understand their grunts and growls.
