One council was over, but the queen knew that she needed more. It was not so easily that her ruined life could be put back together. In the end, she did not even have to think about who she would go searching for. Evangeline had always been there to give advice, to guide, to council. No matter what concern the poor queen had managed to have, Evangeline had found sage words to give her. Truthfully, it had been far too long since she had seen her emissary. It was just that the call of the gods to find the murderer had been weighing so heavy on her as of late. It was frightening to know that around every corner, death could be waiting for you. There was no pattern to the victims, no sense to made of it; at least, there hadn’t been.
With the killer’s identity known now, it was easy for the queen to sleep, in some ways. Except that now, as she moved through this forest with wide belly and wide eyes, she feared at every turn she might run into the Lady Moon. What could she possibly say to the goddess? After all, the Sunshower had been given her position and her powers by the goddess. All the same, Kahlua could not condone killing. It was too much for her fragile heart.
Wading slowly through the trees with wide belly, the queen wondered where she might find Eva this night. Above her Khan flew diligently, green eyes searching for any signs of the emissary or Tallis. He had new powers to show off and he was almost certain that Tallis would be impressed. It was strange for the queen to feel his excitement mixing with her dread. A foal… She didn’t even know where to begin. She had nothing to offer it- no wisdom, no love, no family. It was a trial she had not asked for, and yet one that she had received. Could she make it through this strange turn in her life, as she had all the others? In many ways, she was not so certain.
