The further he walked the more the strange feeling came to him.
It was something he hadn't felt before.
He felt so fresh and new and he couldn't just stop to sleep. Right now, he knew, was a fresh start.
The bronze stallion slowly paced his way between the brush. The crescent moon in the sky wasnt nearly enough to give his nightblind orbs any sight. So he fumbled and he rattled his way through the trees, yelping at every tree and rock he bumped into, softly growling under his breath.
He would not sleep. This feeling made him restless and he would stay awake to wander.
His marble hooves tapped against the earth, stepping blindly. Most of the time (if he concentrated hard enough) he could hear his way around the trees if he made enough noise, but he couldnt be too loud especially at this time of night. He could heard the wind lapping at the grass; that noise you always heard in a field. Thousands of blades of grass colliding to make that faint, hushed whispering noise; Like the entire field was sighing. It made his nostrils flare and the bronze pelt covering his whither tighten and twitch. Open space would mean a lot less things to crash into, but it would make him much more visible. Who would see him though? He hadn't seen an equine for weeks.
surely it wouldn't be too much of a risk.
With a shake of his tawny mane he began with careful steps across the field. He could hear the breeze, and start to smell water near by. It was these sounds and scents that lifted his mood and this feeling he had. He loved nothing more then to be out exploring, it just didn't work as well when you couldn't see anything. It was fun to guess and imagine though. Sometimes on a windy day he could imagine himself climbing along the worlds tallest mountain and never falling, or if he thought it wise to cross a wild river blind (as he sometimes did) he's pretend it was filled with crocodiles. It was just fun to pretend.
He carried his nose upwards, taking in every scent. His knees stepped high in almost proud means; he was the king of the world right.
WHACK.
It happened quite suddenly.
He had ambled right into a boulder.
his nose pulsed with pain radiating over his whole skull. It was the shock that hurt the most. He took a few moments to recover and then blinked his sightless eyes. He hoped to the gods that not a soul in this forest saw that.
he reached out with a cloven hoof, feeling around for anything else that might decide to pop up infront of him before he slinked forwards and slowly sauntered on across that sighing field.
