Long ears bounced unsteadily amid writhing, dancing flame as she nodded along to the tune of his softened voice; Tilney was intriguing and her eyes glistened curiously, eager to learn what thoughts he chewed over, silently, secretively. She found herself leaning nearer, silly smirk quirking twitching, stormy-grey lips, though reigned herself in swiftly and sent her eyes rambling off through the timber bars around them instead.

The night seemed endless, lonely, and the Starry-Eyed turned to find her companion where he perched amid plumes of tumbling stardust. Tilney is coming... I think, she explained cheerfully, but Silas cared little as long as he posed no threat to her wellbeing. The zephyr’s feather-cloaked breast rumbled long-sufferingly and he stretched each wing and leg in sequence – preparing to accompany them home.

All of a sudden the antlered stallion burst to life – words slithering like uncoiling rope from effervescent lips. Africa startled and pale eyes wandered eagerly back to meet his own (oblivious, naturally, to any visible symptom of his disability). “Hooray!” she returned brightly, neck snaking simultaneously to express further her delight; all the while her new friend pranced a tight circle around her, before pausing, and inviting her forward. Enthusiastically lean legs turned her elegant figure north, but she paused seconds later and cocked her chiselled skull curiously to the side.

“This way...” she laughed kindly, touching warm breath as near to his flesh as he allowed, and lifted her only wing in Pegasus gesture to guide him in the direction of the path which she often followed through the core of the Threshold forest. “We haven’t far to walk, that one fine thing about our home. It feels near enough to the action – but is set apart from most of Helovia, nestled by the foot of the Earth.” Voice wavered, and she turned a knowing smile his way, “...I mean the mountains.”

Africa went on to explain, for the remainder of their journey, all about the God of the Earth whose lands they slept upon and cared for; about the few times she had seen him in person, particularly the time he stood above the western ocean with wings drawn, conducting a beautiful symphony of the sea. He was a benevolent heart, less terrifying than the Sun - though she kept that particular opinion well under wraps for the moment.
