AND YOU DON'T WANT TO BE HERE IN THE FUTURE, SO YOU SAY THE PRESENT'S JUST A PLEASANT INTERRUPTION TO THE PAST.

If he had stopped to think before his impromptu visit to the Wilds, he would have sought out his twin to accompany him.

The princeling had missed Mother and Father, of course. So, too, had he missed their desert home. Perhaps it was in his blood, but there was nothing quite like the warm sand and the bright Sun, so brutal and so pleasant all at once. In some ways, that was what he was supposed to be, wasn't it? He was the prince of the Dragon's Throat. His father was Gaucho the WildFire and his mother Sohalia the Transcended. They were two halves of the same whole, and yet they were so very different - and, to his young mind, he should be half of each. He should be a fighter, but not unnecessarily so; he should be a scholar, but he should not be weak. There was a balance, wasn't there? And it was reflective of the desert.

But if he had to pick what he had missed the most, it would be his brother. He had never been separated from Rhoa for any length of time, and, quite frankly, it sucked. They were twins, quite literally meant to stay together, to grow together, to challenge each other. And he had left Rhoa behind. But he was back now, so he was off to find his twin.

Father had accompanied him back to the oasis before departing to resume his Sultan-ly duties. The prince did not begrudge him the task - after all, it was his job - and instead thought it best to seek out his brother. And, if he happened to run into some other herd members along the way, then he would start making up for lost time. He did not think much on Mother's absence now - after all, it was in Father's hooves now, and who more capable than the WildFire? He would find Mother, and everything would go back to normal. The prince was sure of it.
