The gold shifts before the lake. He’s not sure about this and is that nerves? Snorting he shakes he horned head and checks on the fawn. The babe was off in the distance resting. With the recent ‘team work’ there was hardly a moment of rest. So the babe was glad to be in one place for a while, and taking advantage. His long limbs tucked neatly under his dark body and eyes rested peacefully on the gold. Sighing the gold takes one last moment to think it through. These things had been preciously gathered, he did not want to waste them. But he needed them to learn. Besides he’d been dying to use it more.

The excitement of finally having magic, his own magic, flow through his veins still sent chills through him. And though he used it once or twice already the gold had never done it with such concentration, or for such an important purpose. The reveal of the murder, and the Earth God’s ship had taken so much time away. There was so much to do, to plan, and to mess with. Honestly gathering things for the ship with Deimos had proved to be quite a laugh several times. But the gold, was, and still is a solitary creature by nature. Having that dark devil follow him around everywhere did wear on him. So a break from the tasks was just what he needed.

The golden gives on last look around him. Here by the lake was a rare break in the trees. It wasn’t large, but was large enough for what he needed. Besides if it went really well he could go out over the lake. That was if there was still no one around. A grimaces faces him as that horned head sweeps around. There wasn’t a sign of a soul, and Haldir showed no sign of any sounds. Shifting once more the golden brought himself to be resolved. It was time. It was time for flight practice.

Closing those earthen eyes the gold slowly exhales. A gear turns within him, and slight wing stirs around him, and his coat seems to grow darker and darker, ripple and pulsating with shades till it is a dark blue. Quick like lightening a sharp teal markings rip across his skin on his neck and around his eyes. Horns twist and curl into his skull. The body flinches at this, it was never his favorite part with things (including some undercarriage items) slipped in. Tasseled tail fills out more and more, and ripples with the same effects as his skin till it too is dark blue. Then at last wings grow from his sides and with his electric blue eyes flash open. There, where the gold stood, was now Ampere.

Haldir seeing the change stands up. Oh he loved to see this! His large eyes and ears all face the once golden in happiness. Bounding over he takes in the pretty lady his bonded had become. The gold was not as excited, at least not immediately. The dark blue face reaches down in a rare gesture of kindness to nudge the fawn. Then looks over into the lake. It shocked him to see such a different face. Still he didn’t flinch away. Twisting that proud looking head the electric blue head turned and considered itself, smiling as it went. It was a pensive emotion though. There was work to be done. As he stood admiring this mare’s touch built a curious strain began to run through his blood. It was powerful, and proud. But it also felt this was not as it should be, it was not right. Shaking that hornless head the gold moved away from the water’s edge and the curious thoughts that had arisen.

Now or never. Nudging the fawn more gently than normal to lay back by the lake side. He pulls the golden cloth cloak from off of his back and lays it with a seriousness over the dark spotted fawn. Haldir took it, nodding. He enjoyed getting a task and being useful. The gold moves to one end of the small field. As he went the dark creature stretches out its wings. He tilts them and swirls them, feeling the wind prick and lift each feather. Electric eyes bore the most serious concentration and concern as he stretched them all the way out and back in. His previous shifts had not been long enough to notice the strange things as race change (or height change-which was taking some getting used to too). It seemed so unnatural! His head being so light. It felt almost like he was naked. And these wings! First of all they were such awkward things. Though the muscles from this mare’s body were well developed they still weighed a ton. Snort the dark things drop and for a few steps they drag the ground. Oh but man that was a lot. Picking them back up he tries to place them naturally. But what was natural? How did they usually walk with these? The gold had never paid attention to it before now. He made a note to study it later. Coming to the edge of the field the dark mare sighs and turns. He almost didn’t want to do it. It was just not what he was made to do. Though he consoled himself that the sky island clouds had not been that terrible, the idea of pounding himself up into the air seemed ridiculous and too much hard work to be enjoyable.

A dark hoof stomps the ground and blue tipped wings stretch out. The electric eyes narrow and head lowers. Here goes. Short legs gather and lunge the dark body forward at a run. Wings at first hang still, wait flap. Right he needed to flap. A big struck lifts the mare’s back up in seesaw fashion, and sends it slightly off balance, but it was too late to turn back. The body can feel every muscle pulling. Another big down stroke comes, and he’s running out of room in the field! Another down stroke and his front is lifted up. A grin crosses that mare’s electric face. He’s doing it! Look at him! He’s-

Not doing it. Excitement had made the wings still and tucked and it sent his front half falling all of the three feet it had risen. The dark mare face plants it in the grass and tumbles the rest of the momentum.

Dark sides heaved, but only slightly. It was a strong body this! The tumble though had certainly gained it a few grass stains and bruises. Haldir, having been excitedly watching his bonded run about (finally seeming to play like he did!) that to see him falling and on the ground sent him running over in panic, dragging the cloak with him. Shaking that dark head the gold sees him coming, but can’t seem to get mad at him as usual. Instead the gold lays there, wings tossed about unnaturally along the ground. This was going to be a –long- possibly painful lesson. Fate is always a funny thing however, and gives its gifts in the strangest way. Perhaps it had something up its sleeves for this boy so completely out of his element.
