She could only breathe a sigh of relief when at long last he not only agreed with her, but joined her. The feeling was comparable to the first flight she took, standing upon a tall precipice and staring down at the ground that she had only ever known in her youth, wondering if her wings were indeed ready to hold her aloft. Thranduil didn't let her fall though, he let her fly - now she had to return the favor.

At his beckoning she grinned, the spread wide with the after effects of their agreement. She was giddy, but she tried to contain it as she shuffled next to him, eyeing the deer dismissively. She had, unfortunately, become accustomed to bonded horses which were practically more common place than unbonded. Still, when she might have frowned, her joy in the moment chased it away, making it easy to ignore the poor slave for once in her life.

"First," Ampere began, trying to remember everything her mother had told her. "You'll need speed, and height, to get your lift. Unless you're very small, very agile, and very well practiced, flying from the ground at a standstill is nearly impossible." Mostly flying was a feeling, but if he wasn't a true pegasus, did he have the sense for it? Practice would certainly help, but could she even get him that far? Ampere had never taught anyone how to fly before - better him than her son to practice on.

"Feel out the winds as you run. Find the warm pockets, those will lift you without much effort. It's better to glide when you can, conserve strength." She was about to tell him how to steer with his tail, but stopped after realizing he, like so many, failed to have rear feathers. She honestly didn't understand how they all operated without them. She flared her own, ready for take off. "Tuck in your legs, or else they'll drag int he wind and slow you down. Now, wings out, stretch, feel, and let's go!"

Ampere surged forward from her spot, running towards the ledge he'd been contemplating earlier. Her wings were out and she pumped them as she galloped, legs nearly lifting up with each stride as if she intended to climb on the wind. As the earth fell away under her, she leaned into the fall, wings shoved down with great force while her haunches bunched for a final surge of power. She fell for a moment, then the wind caught her, and flared up under her wings, lifting her. She laughed, banking on her left wing to turn and watch him.
