Edgar was by now long gone. The pale bird had taken off for the trees, taking his seething anger with him. It wasn't a punishment to cause him so much anguish, only a way to give a little spark of humor in Elsa's life. Plus, he was the one being that came back no matter what she did. Everyone else seemed to fall in and out with time, while Elsa was stuck frozen in one place. Her future could not be determined by herself, instead she was the stepping stones that others needed to pave their future. Swallowing another terrifying thought she stepped back, noticing a shadow move behind the curtain of the Falls. The water skewing the features into one dark blob.

The figure finally broke through the water, except it was not who Elsa had intended to see. Instead of her usual happy, peppy mask of recruitment she was caught in a whirlwind of momentary shock. One thing that always caught her off guard was the unpredictable and unplanned. Without a regiment, without a itinerary, she felt out of sorts. So, when the humor of watching an unsuspecting victim dive through the falls did not come to fruition, she was terrified. He did not terrify her, for he was doing everything she asked him to. He made sure Shida made it home in one piece (sort of), and Auriel held enough of her trust to go out and wander around on her own. They were completely different in personalities, but both were existing fine without her. Without the children around anymore, and him making sure one of them was okay, she felt a huge disconnect.

Her attention was momentarily grabbed by his voice. It wasn't the most harmonious sound, but it was comforting. When he grazed across her shoulder she smile weakly and moved her muzzle to bump him lightly. She wanted to cry, but she had it all. Tears were not deserved, because she had her kingdom, she had her wishes. At least he could be a temporary reprieve from everything, even if it was only for a few fleeting moments. "Hi." The relief was overwhelming, who knew that just saying that would mend it all. "Thank you, for making sure Shida didn't hurt herself." On second thought, those words burned like hell. Admitting that he was right, or was doing something right, was the most surprising thing about this entire situation. "I'm sorry I haven't been around." Ouch, that hurt just as much. The truth though, tended to do that. A lot of her self-pity and isolation was caused by herself, and it wasn't fair to those around her. She didn't even know if he'd care, or even know what she was talking about. The words just needed to be put out on the table, for him to decide what to do with them, if anything. Turning again she gently bumped with her muzzle, just a reminder that he too came back once in a while.
