ISOPIA
In reality's shadow the blind see best.

The girl's head bobbed yes. Aithniel had been her partner. Maybe even her friend? She remembered Kahlua introducing her to her friends, and later was told by Alysanne about the nature of friendships. At least more or less. Was Aithniel her friend? The girl wasn't sure. All she knew was that she liked how Aithniel didn't seem to judge her, didn't pester her about her name-less existence. She was accepting, but not in a dull uninspired way. The fire-child was special somehow, clever.

If the girl was to have a friend, she would want it to be someone like Aithniel.

"Yes. My Father said we did well and gave us both a gift. Did he give you a gift as well?" The girl didn't really like calling him her Father, but she had been around others enough to know that they often found her way of speaking odd. Unsettling. They didn't understand her philosophical musings on the nature and importance of names - they thought she was being silly, or naive perhaps, by refusing to call those who had given her life mother and father.

As Mesec, her cousin, drew attention to the rubble around her, the girl narrowed her golden eyes. She'd never even considered it before. All she knew was that things just sort of ... happened to her when she stood still. What they did afterwards was really none of her concern. Could she?

Silently her eyes focused on the earth around her. She stared at it, as if trying to find some trigger or invisible set of strings by which she could alter it. Her quad-horned skull tilted back and forth as various thoughts swayed and drifted through her mind. It was a jumble, a bright assortment of ideas that seemed tangible to her, but none as tangible as one word seemed to be.

Move.

Her lips silently traced the formation of the letters, and, as the silent syllable was released, a funny thing happened.

The stones did move. Rocks from the river bed began to vibrate and hum with some invisible force. They drew together forming what appeared to be some vague shape. It rose from the water as droplets fell from its body. Was it a bear? A dog? Impossible to tell for her grip on her magic was still weak, but it was clearly a something.

"I guess I-" can, is what she meant to conclude, but as soon as the words left her lips and her concentration swayed away from her creation, the rocks lost whatever force held them together and flopped back into the stream.
