The world had been cleansed and the days that followed after the great flood glistened jewel-bright and as flawless as gleaming pearls tread upon a string. The weather was perfect, the skies tall and clear with passing clouds the shape and texture of cotton candy, only occasionally blessing the land with mellow summer shudders to water the lush, vibrant greenery.
Yet for all the reverent bliss that went on amongst the critters and beasts of Helovia now that the land was freed from the angst of darkness and the roaming spirits of the dead had been sufficiently laid to rest, not all were entirely happy.
As you wander the ash-dusted plains around Helovia's Heart one early afternoon, minding your own business in the lovely sunshine, you come across a peculiar sight. A rabble of curious ravens are busy taunting a family of weasel-gnomes that emerge in alarming numbers from the entrance of the Heart Caves. Small and stocky with bushy tails and vole-like ears, the fur-covered little folk defend themselves and their possessions with all their might; beady black eyes gleam with a strange determination above the knobbly, potato-like noses and there is a desperation to the fervor with which they cling to bundles and wraps, knapsacks and chests. The noise of caws, screams and cries of anger and indignation is unbelievable and you can hear it from a long way off.
Suddenly one of the gnomes, an elderly chap with impressively long and trimmed beard, turn around and notice your presence. He whip a dusty, wrinkled old hat from the head and wave it as high as he can, jumping up and down to make you notice him and call for aid with a voice that is much deeper and more carrying than you would have expected from such a small creature.
He seems desperate, and the crows are rather persistent, not at all careful with their sharp beaks or claws. What do you do?
