She stands in their room, finally able to relax. Rain pelts the side of the ship, the pitter-pat of drops on the wood lending calm to her frayed nerves. The dove watches her (ex?)-lover from beneath her lashes. The flood will either be filled with love, understanding, and forgiveness, or it will be a cacophony of rage and hatred, fueled by their rocky past. There is a perch on the corner of the room on which Astraeus has placed himself. He tucks his head under his wing, informing his bonded that he is going to sleep. He may not like the WildFire, but he does not imagine that the stallion will hurt his dove. And if they should rekindle their affections, he does not particularly want to witness that again, either. "Gaucho," she murmurs, taking a step toward him and offering her maw to brush against his: a tender gesture that she hopes he will receive. There is so much between them, so much at stake - she longs for nothing more than for their past to be water under the bridge, a distant nightmare that is easily shaken off upon awakening. Does he want the same thing? Or has their partnership today been no more than residual affection from times long past? What is she supposed to say now? How does she explain that which she barely understands herself? Should she simply ask him how he feels? But he has never been good at conveying that, has he? And what if she doesn't like his answer? "Gaucho, I..." she begins again, but her voice catches in her throat, a voice laced with all the love and pain and fear that she has felt in the last season, and she blinks up at him, her eyes showing that which she cannot find the words to say. Instead, she tries another tactic: "I didn't leave you willingly." There, that seems safe enough. Perhaps she can get her explanation out without dissolving into tears. "Talk talk talk." @[Gaucho] |
