" The drums, a fire, a calling
My soul marches out the door
We fall to earth together
The crowd calling out for more. "

As wet, shimmering diamonds started falling from the greyed heavens, forest-live had fallen silent and birds had alighted into the cover of the crowned tree-branches. Even so, the thumping of hooves resounded hollowly against muddy earth, every now and then splashing through fresh puddles. Maren's body moved swiftly, eyes bold, but hooded by a frown. Rain seeping along her smooth, red-striped figure and through all the minuscule valleys and mountains around her squeezed eyes. Wet feathered wings laid safely hidden under a blanket of soaked ivory mane. The mare blinked multiple times against the droplets that dripped into her eyes - mostly an unsuccessful defense, while she tried to grasp what she was looking at: An environment of a blue-grey haze, marked by millions of silver, shimmery lines. A chaos of added lines, taking the ones which stripes ended on the slick soil. Further up she could just barely spot a deeper grey rock-formation, just barely visible in the damp obscurity of the evaporating storm water. Still, it was a silhouette that sparked hope for finding shelter against this ridiculous TallSun rainstorm. With the rattling and puffing of the raging weather echoing in the background, she upped the speed of her racing hooves.

Although it truly was actually quit refreshing, she did not care much about the storm. Sure, she adored rain, but only when she had found a save hiding spot to watch the rain do its rain-things, while she stayed dry doing her own thing; thinking. Being in the middle of rain's business just made her feel piteous, naked and alone. Perhaps she already was those things, had always unknowingly been, but rain simply made her aware. As if it revealed truths - or something wicked like that.

Suddenly her eyes opened wide, awakened when a huge mushroom-cloud of damp filled her vision. Maren had had reached the rocks now and her hooves were left clacking noisy against the stone surface...- But her mind was not distracted by it at all, for one: She could not even hear anything over the noisy rain, and two: As she neared a freaky red glow, her vision got filled by a huge pit, barking up hot air like the fires of hell. Glancing down carefully before taking a step back, she saw a red fluid - she guessed had to be magma, burped and blobbed in the depths of the pit. For some conflicting seconds her stare had been caught by the flames. Then she simply blinked. Turned away. Priorities; investigation later. Now; to seek shelter. Sure to promise herself to not forget it, her hooves carried her past and away from her nightmare. She did not like fire, so obviously a blazing portal to hell did not seem so inviting either. Nevertheless the danger and mystery had gotten her in it's grasp. In a good way. Eyes now wandering off, a deep black stain fell into her vision like a bird falling from the sky. For some seconds, Maren simply stared at it. It was peculiar, odd, strange. Yet another thing fighting over her attention and room of thoughts. This terrain did not seem to have a normal rocky-soil kind of gradient, which intrigued and amazed her; made her wonder where she was. For wherever she had found herself this time, she could already tell it made her wandering heart a happy one.

With a flared, longing in her insides reaching out to the unknown, she put her hooves in motion and went in.

The tiger-mare's flaming hide felt cold and soaked when she waddled into the grotto, hooves still up-beat clacking against the dry rocky surface. Dry, but there were little streams of water moving through the grooves on both sides of the entrance. "Aaaahhh", she exhaled loudly now that she could actually hear her own noises, then the mare shook her sodden hide. Enduring the after-vibrations of the cold and tickling of wet hair, she turned around to look at the summer rainstorm once more. This time from a better perspective and framed by the dark, pointy outsides of the opening. She looked, simply standing, head lowered, ears listening; finally able to enjoy the soothing of the sounds.

Barely noticing, Maren's wings crept out from under long sticky strings of ivory hair, flapping almost soundlessly, spraying droplets, ridding themselves from water as much as they could before falling along the side's of the mare's neck.

As the remedying lullaby continued on, her pearl white head started to slowly bob, eyes drowsily glaring gloomily at the rain, a halo leaking droplets - but of light, fading as they fell to the ground.
