Consider your origin. You were not formed to live like brutes but to follow virtue and knowledge.
The happiness in Kahlua's voice made the girl bristle slightly. The demi-child had never even felt as happy as her mother sounded; not on the day she was born, the day she was rewarded by her Father, or the day she discovered her magic. The girl took in the world with a calm rationality, finding little pleasure or joy in anything. The world was far too big to be bogged down by emotions. The girl had a job to do, a world to keep in balance. She would not be distracted. It was because of that, that the girl bristled; because of the obvious disconnect between her state of mind and her mother's.

"Hello." She returned, her voice sounding sterile somehow. The girl cast a glance down at her pendant, before regarding Kahlua with her ever searching golden gaze. Shaking her quad-horned skull the girl elaborated. "No. He was very busy." She answered matter-of-factly, as if it would have been rude to try and monopolize his attention. "He was dealing with the flood after all. And Hototo's death I suppose." Oh yes. The girl knew about Hototo. Mesec had told her about him, and how he had died. She got the feeling like most viewed her as just his replacement. A necessarily creature, but not the one they wanted. The girl didn't mind, but it certainly helped to explain the odd looks that she received, and why there was so much emotional tension around her.

As they walked, the girl found how much easier it was now, especially since she had grown, to easily keep up with Kahlua. As a newborn, it took several strides to match one of her mother's, but now she strode easily and gracefully beside her. Well, almost gracefully. The girl's limbs were long, and her hind-end was taller than her shoulders, indicating that she likely had more growing to do. It seemed obvious that in time she would easily overtake her mothers height.

"I ... learned to do something." She began awkwardly, not entirely sure how to segue the conversation towards the magic she had developed and so decided simply to jump right on in. Casting a glance towards Kahlua she waited to see if the paint would be receptive. The girl didn't really know how to talk about herself, and so found the spotlight uncomfortable.
