Volterra is not the first to arrive on the scene, but he did not expect he would be. What equine wouldn't come running at the possibility of a dragon? He sees his kis hollo, trying to widen the hole with her magic. Sensible, but what exactly did she plan to do once the hole was bigger? It wouldn't help them against an irate mother dragon. Volterra remembers Vérzés' hatching, how protective the green had been of her one surviving egg. Hell hath no fury like a nesting mother, and so comes the brainwave. "I will send Vérzés down - the dragon may trust him more than one of us." says the young monolith, excitement clouding his features. The crimson war-dragon coos, flaring his wings, and tightens his grip on his kill. He is reluctant to give it up, Volterra can tell, but knows it will be the best way to placate a mother dragon.

With a small squawk, the dragon swoops down to the hole. Small it may be, but Vérzés is still a very young dragon, small enough to steal through given the hole has been enlarged by Isopia and Tandavi's efforts. He crushes his limbs close together, holding the dead rabbit out before him so it will be the first thing the albino sees. Volterra lurks outside the hole, nervous, worried that the mother may attack his bonded despite the offering of food - he feels his magic bubble beneath his fur, prepared to erupt a whole damn hill underneath the hole if he has to, to get his precious bonded out. It occurs to him to use his magic now, create a spire under the egg and lift it to the surface, yet he thinks doing that will incur the anger of the mother. Best to try gentle means first.

Vérzés squeezes through, and through their bond Volterra can feel the red's posture - low, submissive, avoiding direct eye contact with the mother to show he is not a threat. He holds the kill out in front of him, dangling temptingly in his jaws, keeping far enough away from the mother to avoid her wrath should it come but close enough to drop the rabbit and nudge it towards her. He chirps gently, tail swinging behind him, his dragon-language telling the albino not to worry, and a gesture of his head asking whether she would like him to get that golden egg out of her way.
