Ulrik the engineer Metal from the Dragon's Throat was the last of what he needed, and his eyes nearly glowed with delight. A brief stint of illness gave way to health, and he breathed raggedly, bounding around the metal frame and eager to give life to his second monster. He was Dr. Frankenstein, a creator, birth giver. The only skill he lacked was the ability to imbue a soul, but that was unnecessary. His behemoths were flawless in their inability to feel or discern, and he grinned, white teeth flashing from beneath black, velvety lips. The stallion bounded around his creation, metal pieces melting and forging in midair as he attached them to the pre-existing frame. His tail swung around his haunches like that of a foal, excitement making his very spine tingle. How long had he been waiting for this day? Far too long, it seemed. Ulrik cared not about the audience, and if they wanted to watch his brilliance come to life, he would welcome it gladly. The stallion stepped back, and now the frame matched his operating brother. Large, silver plates rippled along the monster's sides, the frame roughly like that of an equine. Electronics ran along the inside spine, massive hydraulic hoses hissing to mechanical limbs. Ulrik shivered in delight, using the final bit of his magic to breath life into the sentinel. He exhaled and a whirring noise began to build. Creaking and a delicate whine followed as it powered up, small lights flickering on. The whining noise stopped when the beast moved, a massive hoof shaking the ground. And it was done. Their two guards were functional. "Beautiful..." he murmured, staring up at the beasts in awe. |
