 Cool air currents fought against the golden's wings as he made his way through the next set of hoops. He paced himself now, focusing more on navigating the wavering breeze and violet rings then on speed. Bronze pools took in the wide expanse of forest that ran to the south. Orangemoon had come and painted the foliage with vibrant oranges and reds. From the air, it almost looked as though he was flying over a wild-fire. The colors contrasted against the rich blue blanket of sky above; if only he could show Faelene these sights. A sorrowful smile crossed his lips for a brief moment, soon replaced by determination. It would not do to think of her now. The array of circles began to pale into shades of silver, a good indication that the course was progressing. Leander took a few breaths of the crisp air and beat on at a steady pace. The competition was a moderate relief from the frustration and sadness that had recently threatened to envelope him. But what would happen when the games were over? Would anything ever come of his tragic desire for the ebon Unicorn? Could she ever love him, despite the damned wings which carried him now? The questions lingered at the edges of his mind, waiting to be answered. |
