from the dusty mesa her looming shadow grows
hidden in the branches of the poison creosote

Mordecai stood with the water lapping at her thin legs and watched the colt and the stallion that moved toward her. She saw only a little bit of the interaction between them, but was unaware of the exchange that took place between Hawke and Abraham's young dragon. From the distance she was standing it simply looked to her like the dragon was showing off. Didn't all companions do that? She was certain that Gwaihir showed off from time to time even though he had nothing on a dragon.

"Hello." the filly echoed Abraham's greeting. "Ab-ruh-haaaam." Her ears strained forward and she looked to the colt who appeared to be around her age. He screamed for a reason that was unknown to the filly and it made her ears fall back against her head. "SHUDDUP!" She screamed back at him, stamping her tiny cloven hoof into the water. It splashed and she blinked her eyes as droplets of water hit her face. Couldn't he see that he was ruining a perfectly calm day? Boys. Mordecai snorted and rolled her dark eyes, thinking that all boys (apart from her dad because he was obviously perfect) were weird and a little stupid.

It seemed the colt took her advice and he was soon prancing over to them, acting as if he hadn't just screamed for no reason. What a strange boy. The dark filly snorted again and turned her attention back to Abraham and his dragons. "Genvere." She said confidently, though she'd horribly mispronounced the dragon's name. "Zasqa zhavorsa." She hesitated, thinking that maybe she needed to try to use the common tongue her mother had been teaching her. "White dragon." She nodded her head. "Breneee." Another mispronounced name spoken with the confidence of someone who knew what they were saying. "Hoshor zhavorsa... Golden dragon."

Her gaze then trailed to Hawke and she giggled under her breath. "Toki." She whispered to the behemoth so only he would hear. "Dumb."
