For an anticlimactic moment, nothing happened. The flames lapped at the air with the same ferocity and dull warmth as always. Then, once a few seconds had passed, they jumped as if ignited by some unseen fuel. The fire turned bright white, although its heat did not intensify, and the warm light that it cast would not burn the eyes to stare into it. Embers deep within the heart of the blaze cracked and pulsed with the fire, as if slowly chanting a rhythm.

A time to choose..

Unspoken words, unheard, but not forgotten. Images of groups - four of them, with a few stragglers - appeared in the flames, blurred by the haze of the heat. Then ran in four directions, under four different banners, but towards the same goal.

Cooperation or success?

Soundless as the last.

The images blur again. Ice covers the land, though the Throat remains warm.

As the illusory ice melts away under the blaze of the very real diviners fire, the flames die down to their original size and intensity.
