Carry both of us Carry her, carry me Clouds rumbled in the sky as the thunderstorm absorbed itself. Einarr stood before the river, still fat with the extra waters of the Earth God's flood, silently grazing. His wings tucked carefully into his sides, his black coat damp with the whisper of the storm that had passed. It was a comfort being out of the Throat, but his mind wandered back to Mordecai and his muscles tensed with slight worry. He knew his daughter was safe with Megaera, but knowing that there had been an attempt on her life when she was just minutes old was a veil that would never leave Einarr. The worry would always exist, somehow and somewhere. It may grow smaller the more the filly aged,but it would always exist. Despite the worry that crept into his breast, Einarr reveled in being outside of the Throat. The grasses, moist with droplets of rain, were lush and filled his belly well. The stallion had always been a desert dweller, and the moments he was able to delve into the riches of dark green grasses, he was a pleased stallion.
Lifting his head, Einarr moved his body slowly towards the river. Red-brown eyes narrowed some as he approached the fast moving river, just at the fork. The stallion stepped onto the muddy bank carefully, cloven toes spread wide. He had no desire to slip and fall into the quickly moving waters. He had heard stories of horses stronger than him, more able than him, being swallowed whole by rivers with no time for them to call out for help. Taking his fill of the liquid, Einarr quickly turned his body on the muddy bank and cantered a few strides back into the long, lush grass and continued to graze, wings falling lax at his sides. |
