ISOPIA
IN REALITY'S SHADOW THE BLIND SEE BEST

The girl ignored his question and his antics. Although part of her wondered what it was she would do if he did charge at her. Instinctively she knew that because her bones were still growing, they were not yet strong. Like a sapling, she might appear to be able to bear the weight of the world, but given enough duress she would break. It would be through no fault of her own, but broken branches could not be fixed. Then again, perhaps her Father could restore her body, should she damage it, but she would feel foolish if she had to ask him for such a thing. Her job was to heal the Earth, but not by sacrificing her own.

Perhaps she would use her magic to build a wall and stop him ...

She really didn't want to answer his question. Now that she knew her name, she held it closely against her chest. A prized piece of knowledge that only few would know.

"You don't speak like the others.." She observed, glossing over his question and hoping to slide the conversation away from it. "Even those who know other languages ... their words are not as thick with foreign cadence as yours is. You aren't from here." Her conclusion was rhetorical - she wasn't looking for confirmation from him. His words were all that she needed to secure her assumption.

The girl was slightly envious of the fantastical foreign lands she imagined that he came from. After all, with an accent and different upbringing any differences in his thought patterns or rituals could be easily justified. You could say, Oh that's just _______ . He's from _________ and everyone would go, Oh I see, and move on. He wouldn't be heralded as an outcast simply because he was different. His differences would be accepted because they were grounded in something. In this, the girl was envious. She had no just grounding - no reason for being different. She just was.
