The built up rage still tickled at that golden’s serenity. An unspent force, devoid of its satisfaction, left to toss and turn in the night. At last he could not stand it any longer. His bones ached with unsettled moments of that day. Snorting, the gold stands up. Haldir, sleeping on a blue cloak raises his weary head up. He had not the restlessness of the gold, and the connection to his bonded, which threatened to enter those feeling in him was most unwelcomed. So he lowers his head and curls up tighter. Shaking his crowned head the gold moves to the cave’s opening. From its place he picks up the wolf hide cloak and slips it over his shoulders. Its warmth a welcome in the chill of threatening winter. Earth eyes gaze over the calm and quiet Basin. Its stillness and peace still though to not transcend to him. Steam rises to the left of his panorama view and it sparks and idea. Slipping off into the forests below he leaves Haldir to sleep and heads for the hot springs.

He could hear the calming bubbling of water and hiss of steam from afar and already like whispers they teased him with an ease. He could unwind there and think clearly perhaps, for surely no one would be there in this late hour. The gold was very much wrong. Though her white chiseled features were very hard to pick out in the steam, he spied another resting in a pool. His pace slows and he lets out a sigh of malcontent. Of course there was someone about, as many creepy crawlies as the Basin held, there was bound to be someone. But this creature was a curious one. He had seen her about, and at the meeting, but never recalled her name or place. It was a distracting mystery, and one he would gladly follow up on.

Stepping into the same pool as she, he rumbles a nicker to her. For once he wasn’t a beasty trying to frighten. He knew little about the white raven above who kept watch or if he had already been seen. Stopping up at the pools edge, enjoying for a moment the steam rolling up and wrapping around his barrel he speaks up. His voice low and deep with the weight of the sleepless night. “You were at the meeting but I know not your name.” It was not a question, but more like a hidden command. He was tired and worn, he wanted a distraction but not a field day. This was not the time for elaborate games and challenges. Instead perhaps the conversation and company might even be welcomed. Perhaps it could slip away the ills of the day.
