Whether this is on purpose or not you cannot tell, and your eyes train to his alabaster face, the bulk of the rest of his body heavy near yours. At the slight touch of his wing your skin shivers, a breath expelling shakily with the weight of intoxication heavy on your young heart, wild mind. With just an ounce of courage you press the weakness of your body to the strength of his, the touch enough to knock the air from your lungs, the surety of standing from your limbs. Gently you press your lips to his cheek, ghosting down along the thick muscles of his neck, breathing slowly, deeply, trying desperately to memorize every subtle curve, the feel of him, so, so close. His warmth you find addicting, the smell of earth and pine and him the only thing you know, your head swimming; your body, heart, soul aflame, burning with a fire that could consume the world, outshine the sun, a thousand times over. It is then that the thought of him feeling nothing infects whatever this is, swallowing your bravery, piercing your heart, leaving you feeling so terrifyingly vulnerable. It is then that you pull away, nearly stumbling from your haste, the void that opens between you more cruel than you could have imagined, your heart raw and aching, still quivering within a sea of emotions that you do not understand.
