Two creatures born of ice stare at each other, and it seems that the owl of Helovia's past had been correct in his statement that they were destined. Even before Mauja shuffles to feed the screeching bird, the minds already touch, oddly familiar considering this new life had never met the stallion before. The bond is still slippery, unwilling, but the food helps quell the angry beats churning within the small bird's belly and eases her into a more comfortable state, her dark beak tearing into the flesh of the dead and peering up fondly at this unicorn occasionally.
With an almost exaggerated sigh of the bird as her appetite is squelched, the blue eyes of the owl, almost white, soften like powdery snow instead of hard ice. Mauja, the owl can sense you, and you her. There are no clear words at first, but the bond will strengthen and grow with time. Eventually you will communicate with words, but now just the power of emotions will bind you.
