"Lullaby..." Azeen repeated, so as to remember it better. She wondered briefly at something, and then they were talking again, and she forgot to think. First it was Lullaby, and Cera chorused right in. There was the mention of parents again, and Azeen couldn't stifle her confusion. Were parents really that important? She felt a little indignant, although she had to admit that she did want larger company now and again... "Yes, I think mothers are the... female? portion of parents. Sohalia was explaining this to me... The mother is the female, who usually births the baby, and the father is the male. I'm not sure what the male has to do with it all, though..." Really, she was just quoting Sohalia as she looked up at the sky with her mismatched eyes, trying to think. She didn't know what 'birthing' was. And what was the male there for, anyways? Sohalia did just fine taking care of Azeen on her own, although they weren't related. "And no, I don't have any parents. Not real ones, anyway." Truth be told, she had faint memories of parents. But they were inconsequential, and so it was best to say they didn't exist. Sohalia took it upon herself to fill in the gap, and although Azeen didn't really understand the complexities of how Sohalia felt about the whole thing, she accepted the presence. Between the male, Leander, and Sohalia, it seemed Azeen had no choice but to choose one of them. "Oh, wait, this is the Dragon's Throat, right?" Her eyes popped out wide, and she looked about her. This place wasn't at all how she had originally imagined it. Leander had been right- the herd didn't actually live inside the throat of a gigantic, fire-breathing beast! Although she was beginning to like her first frightening theory better, she still liked this place. It had strange colors, but it was really quite beautiful once you added in the oasis. |
