She let the Throat and all the conflicts it held for her slip away with each step she took further and further from it, plodding easily alongside her son who led the way. It was easy to do when she was in his company; easier even than when she was alone, stealing moments from the tapestry of time that had woven her in so complexly. Something in the wonderful way that he watched the world buoyed her up from her depths; a balloon breaking above a thunderstorm, untouchable.

What about him?

Worry streaked across her and her head turned towards him, features drawn taught as she traced the absence of his wing for the hundredth time. She tried not to let him see, the memory of facing down the god still raw on her mind; she couldn't betray him too. Yet she could not fully contain herself, so gently her velvet muzzle reached down to brush the gleaming, ugly metal that was crawling from where his magnificent limb should have been. It bumped against him as they continued to walk, and quietly she questioned it. It didn't seem to bother him, but its growth continued.

His chatter drew her from the reflection of the titanium folds, a smile cracking her lips as he recounted his latest tales to her. Shedding the last bit of twilight from her thoughts she indulged his boyish tendencies - something which would not be much longer. Nearly a full set of seasons old, he would be aged enough to take rank before she knew it. These were the moments to hold onto.
So she pulled upon the winter-ruined foliage around them, blue sparks jumping and popping into life with a low hiss and a mild hum. They gathered into a single, larger orb, pulsing with energy and vitality that matched her little lightning son. Ampere crafted a small doe to walk beside the boy's golem, its outline mostly holding, but arcs of electricity at times snarling from its edges, something to look at but not touch.

"Whales are very wise," she murmured in turn to his tale, not to skeptical of it after her encounter with one of the ocean beasts. She wasn't sure yet if it was truth that the behemoth sang to her, but now was not the time to sort that out, so instead she playfully ruffled at his mane with her lips. "Did you now?" she crooned, her feathers ruffling and resettling on her back, then abruptly ruffling as Zekle's voice cut off and body dropped out of the way.

He exclaimed, unhurt, just as she went leaping forward, her own hooves striking the hard sheet of winter's teeth and sending her sprawling with a fair bit less grace than her, no thanks to her size. She spun on her rump across the frozen water, laughing all the while with an unbridled joy that had been rare.
"Ice!" she exclaimed, rolling onto her side to press into the cold. "This is when cloven hooves would be nice," she rumbled, taking less delight in the prospect of standing back up. "Don't lick it, it licks back!" she warned, but began puffing on it with her nose, making drawings with her breath as the top layer of frost crawled away.
