Ashamin had given himself some time to contemplate the gift and its presentation before seeking out the Basin's corporal. The sun was just beginning to set and Lochan, tired and newly awoken, dragged behind in the snow. It was quite possible the pair wouldn't find her, not in this vast white, but Ashamin knew that if nothing else his fellow's coat would stick out like a sore thumb if he caught a glimpse of the scenery now, before the darkness of night hid the Aurora Basin entirely.
The item Johnny had crafted at Ashamin's request was folded neatly and kept close to the Haruspex's breast, hidden within the folds of white that yet another crafter had gifted him with. He worried for Zahra, as he thought of her now, surviving so young and alone in the cold. If only she would have been welcome in this herd... but for whatever reason, he had found himself living among those who considered this to be a haven for only the horned sort. He didn't think of it as prejudice, perhaps he couldn't bear to, so much as a gathering of common sorts. It was the exclusion that rubbed him the wrong way.
But he still had much to learn about Helovia's history. Perhaps unicorns had suffered some sort of persecution, here. Perhaps he was making up stories to feel better.
Still, he brushed it aside. He trudged through the snow, a haruspex determined, and his coat turned from white to bright orange as the setting sun washed over the Basin. He would find her, somehow, in time. His long tail was raised high, a sparking beacon that led him and Lochan onward and into the night, bearing gifts for Frostfall's colder evenings. The lonely ones, like these.
