When she put the gift about her neck Ashamin could not help himself from smiling. It was a broad look, one injected with pleasure that became unnameable. He was just happy, happy to see her happy, and that was enough.
With the scarf about her face, then neck, the two became mirrored beasts. He snorted playfully at the image of the both of them, both wrapped in cloth even though the coldest of seasons had passed. His long lion tail curled behind him, twisting swiftly like an energetic snake, and he let the dull permafrost glide beneath his hooves as he stepped closer again. Her cheeks were warm, and even had it not been for her words--so filled with thankfulness--he would have known that he had made her happy. That, that was enough.
Lochan wove between his bonded's legs, wanting attention and overcoming shyness all at once. He lowed quietly, butting against Ashamin's knees, and wanted more. Carefully, the haruspex bent to attend to his companion as he replied.
"Yes, it was really Johnny who made the thing as lovely as it is. I am sure he would love a moment with you," the paint said with reflection and a twinkle in his eye. Johnny loved a moment with everyone, it seemed. Ashamin admired such openness.
Under his nose, Lochan twisted and wriggled. Suddenly his bonded's hot breath felt too stifling, and so Ashamin watched as Lochan drifted a few feet away. "I am glad you like it, Ki'irha," he said wistfully, as if remembering something distant, before turning his gaze back up to meet with hers. How good it was to have such a powerful friend as she. He looked over her figure, strong and muscled as a warrior's was wont to be, with a long tail not unlike his. He admired her, saw something in her that he wanted to learn. But he would be patient and wait until whatever that was revealed itself. Until then, he was happy just to talk.
