[decided to post with Jack ^^]

Show me what you see.

A brief image of a beach, fine sand dancing in a vague breeze, gulls careening over the open sea, searching for the silver sparkle of fish.

Almost timidly, the red-gold yearling peeked his head over a sand dune crested with wisps of course salty beach grass, swaying to secret music. Through the grey-blue eyes, he could only see miles and miles of sand and an endless ocean, the fins of dolphins dipping in and out of the cool waves in the distance, but through the jade eyes, he could see the entire world.

Is there anyone there?

He could feel the dragon maneuvering carefully over the hot sheets of wind, the searching keen eyes roving over shoal and shore. After a few moments, the dragon sent a pulse which thrummed against his skull, a sea blue color. The dun shook his head to rid of the queer feeling and was immediately sent an image of two pegasi - a strange blue filly with a cloud upon the foal hide and her roan dam, playing in the clear, cool water. Bronze wings took the dragon in a lazy circle above them, swooping close to the youth and gliding through the water near her, sending ripples of brine around him, but he slowed as the blue form neared. For a moment, he hovered before the delicate girl, blinking those milky green eyes before giving a brief chirp and zipping upwards with startling speed, reptile paws pressed close to the slender glittering body.

Meanwhile, Jackal snorted idly behind the dune, suddenly unsure what to do. As he considered heading out of the blistering sun, bronze wings brought a familiar face over the head of sand. Chirping loudly, the bronze flapped wildly about the appaloosa and the red face tossed and snapped, mane flailing and tangling in the dragon-wind. But swiftly, the dragon rushed away, leaving the boy tousled and wind-blown.

He swung his head low, arching his neck like some bull, ready to charge. Red legs bounded easily over the dune, inflexible grasses tickling the bottom of his belly. Dei, wary of his huffing partner, flew leisurely above, leading leading the colt over several meters of unchanging sand which scolded the tender hoof-soles. Grunting in annoyance, the boy slowed to a walk, squeezing a narrow passage between two cliff edges. He found himself before the pair of blue pegasi, dancing in the shallows like creatures of the ocean. Jackal jerked to a stop, flicking his ears with uncertainty. They seemed benign enough - mothers with children were generally benevolent creatures but the scrawny colt was all big stormy eyes. His muzzle quivered, sending vibrations through the agile whiskers.

What should I say?

The dragon swooped down, landing between the ears tipped with dark red. Squack.

That was helpful.

For a moment which seemed to last a century, the stocky red thing was mute, desperately attempting to find his voice. "It's been hot." he said finally, like a fool, tail twitching.

And the little bronze laughed, pushing away from his bonded's poll with surprising strength and spiraled upwards, towards the sky, his scales like the glint of some long-lost treasure.
