Only the dead have seen the end of war.
Alysanne, the good Moon Doctor, came cantering up to the equines at the glass wall. She spared naught but a quick glance and greeting— focusing finding the injury as any dedicated healer would. The actions brought a fleeting, lopsided grin to his face. But it did not stay as his eyes watched the healer’s eyes find the bloody knees of Whisper.
The doctor’s companion dutifully distracted Astra, who was blissfully ignorant of the concept of pain. Soon, little one, you will learn. But the great stallion hoped it would be a while longer, yet. Pain had its place in this world, to be certain. But the happy ignorance was to be enjoyed while it lasted.
“Please, do,” his low voice rumbles in answer to Alysanne’s question— despite it being directed towards Whisper. It was clear that embarrassment and defeat had stolen the draft pegasus’s words. Her lovely, massive wings drooped to the earth and tears coursed down her roan cheeks.
He glanced to the bright, alluring green eyes of the black and white mare, gaze clearly pleading for help. Female tears were out of his element— he felt the beginnings of the unique masculine panic that stems from feminine tears.
He took a half-step towards Whisper, broad side of black bands and silver buckskin pressing gently against hers in comfort. “You are in good hands with Alysanne, Whisper,” he rumbles gently in answer to the pleading gaze she gives him. He thinks he is answering the plea, not understanding the source of her fears.
Sweeping his bewildered eyes to Alysanne, he await the healer to work her magic. One thick ear remains trained on the frolicking filly, ensuring that she was nearby and out of trouble.
