WE HELD TOGETHER THE FRAGILE SKY TO KEEP OUR WAY OF LIFE

[continued from Blow a Kiss, Fire a Gun]

Little bird.

He calls her little bird. The girl's never actually had a nickname before; even mother simply called her by her name. The revelation causes a smile to curve her soft lips, warming her pretty face and brightening her eyes. She continues to watch him, carefully holding her prying curiosity at bay. Biting back questions that just might ruin the fun they were currently having, and though she wouldn't ever admit it - this is the most fun she's had. Ever. Finding her aunt had been fun, too but this was different. This... well, she feels less like a child. She isn't the baby anymore, she isn't just a kid. The girl is eager to grow up, eager to be seen as an equal; Rowtag is a welcome distraction. Unfortunately, however, it likely wouldn't end well for her. The way his flaxen hair falls across his eyes, the twinkle in his eyes; she'd be lying if she ever said it didn't do something to her. What exactly she doesn't honestly know. The girl exhales softly, quietly and peers at him through her thick, dark lashes. "Oh, I'll bet there's something special about you." she replies, a hint of seriousness to her voice that she tries and fails to cover up.

The stallion boasts, puffing his chest out in a clear show. There's a mischievous sparkle in her eyes and a sly smirk replaces the sweet smile of moments ago. "Challenge accepted." she declares, lifting her head proudly; a playful haughtiness present in her show of regality. The stallion dissolves into laughter, taking her along with him. Her laughter, sweet like the tinkling of bells, mixes rather delightfully with his deeper one.

She manages to bite back her laughter when he speaks again, though it clearly bubbles in her chest and fights against her meek hold. The girl can only grin at his act, her joy and laughter only barely contained. He certainly is a devilish one; his teasing, quick wit and playfulness seeping into her veins, spreading through her like an infection. He is infectious. He is delightful. When he speaks, fluttering his lashes dramatically; the laughter she'd been holding back breaks through, leaving her practically gasping for breath. The girl quickly reels it back in enough to speak. "Now that -" she begins, pausing to giggle softly, "is special." she concludes, sighing softly with pleasure.

He stands still, as still as a stone, when she approaches with her flower. He doesn't protest, doesn't move away. He simply stands quietly and allows her to tuck the flower into his golden hair. Surprisingly, she manages to control herself enough to not press her face into his strong chest. She lingers for a moment, feeling the fluttering of her heart in her chest and the flush of her cheeks beneath her fur, before stepping back. "I... you're welcome." she whispers, feeling a bit flustered and confused again. The girl inhales deeply in an attempt to calm her heart and clear her head. Fortunately, he falls quiet then - granting her a fighting chance to avoid making a fool out of herself.

She steps lightly through the forest, unsurprised by the way the forest thickens as she transitions from the threshold to the deep forest. The girl hears him behind her, following blindly in silence. She welcomes his silence, focusing on the path that would lead her - and subsequently, him - home. The end of the deep forest is rather abrupt, open fields meet with the thickly planted line of trees; decided opposites. Once in the open, she glances behind her at the stallion with a twinkle in her eyes. Her pace picks up slightly and then with a playful wink, she bolts - long legs pumping and carrying her swiftly, deep brown hair flying behind her. She folds her wings tightly against her sides for the sake of speed. The girl races across the fields south of the Hidden Falls - where her father lives - and onward towards the misty woods of the World's Edge.

A few yards from the borders, she slows herself down and pulls to a stop just outside the shards of the broken glass wall. She hopes he follows suit, not wanting him to injure himself already. She breathes deeply, trying to catch her breath from their race. "Careful." she begins, her voice a bit breathy. "There used to be a glass wall, it shattered - though I don't know why or how." Her small hooves pick a path through the broken shards, careful to avoid their sharpness. Once she's clear, she pauses for him and turns herself so that her teal eyes can gaze upon his face once again. "This is the World's Edge -" she pauses, perhaps for effect. "my home." she confesses, pride swelling in her chest as she gauges his reaction. Here, she stands a little taller. Here, she's more comfortable.

She doesn't even think that her mother might find them.
She doesn't even think about what her mother might say.

@Rowtag, Leaders/Higher ranked to grant acceptance/rank (Alysanne, maybe? haha).
notes: I'm so sorry, looks like Rowtag is doomed to be her first ever crush - obviously, I'm not expecting anything to come of it. Just putting it out there. xD
