Calaerien blinked, her eyes adjusting to the new light. Hadn't it just been dawn? How was it suddenly noon? Hadn't she just taken one step? Her mind buzzed and circled with questions. Suddenly the realization hit her. She wasn't where she last remembered being. Rocks, trees, even patches of grass were not where they last were.

"If this is your idea of a practical joke, it is not funny!"

She strained her ears to listen for any abnormal sound coming from the forest. Callie heard nothing, saw nothing. She shook herself, an snorted. This wasn't the time to get all panicked. Sure someone (or something) had whisked her away without so much as an "excuse me", somehow moving her tall body and keeping her unconscious for several hours...she snorted in annoyance again. It was conceivably impossible, and if anything, that annoyed her the most. For her not to have an answer was rare, and made her quite gloomy.

"Well you're not going to solve this mystery just standing around,"  she said, under her breath.

She nodded to herself, realizing the truth in her own words. She gathered herself, and took three steady, long breaths. She was fighting the panicked little filly in the back of her head, but with each breath, she gained a little more control. Calaerien never had full control over this little filly, but such was her nature. The black mare rose her head, with pride and grace, and set off at her slow yet purposeful walking pace, making sure she kept in full control of her body. In her mind, since she had absolutely no control over where she was right now, she had at least maintain a tight control over herself.

With every step, Calaerien was sure to keep her eyes and eyes focused on the world around her. He body was tense, but that was normal for her. The constant influx of new information helped to keep the panicked filly under control, at least for the most part. Callie had learned this from a very young age, when she almost collapsed when her stress levels got too high. Every time she heard a twig snap, or the rustle of leaves nearby, she would stop, being sure to place her feet in a position that allowed her to run or fight without getting caught up in her own long legs. To most horses, her behaviour was extreme and borderline unnecessary; especially after hearing the tenth twig snap and countless leaves rustling. Most horses would have settled into a rhythm by now, maybe flicking an ear at the sound to ensure it wasn't coming closer. But Calaerien was not normal, and definitely not like other horses. Her stopping was a way for her to calm herself and her mind.

It was a long time before she reached a clearing. From here, she could see the mountains on one side... those definitely hadn't been where ever she was before appearing in this new place. Calaerien had seen them once, as a filly, but only once. She stopped at the edge, once again positioning her hooves in an optimal position. A couple insects buzzed around her, which she consciously flicked with tail. It was quiet other than that, only lending to a growing unease inside the mare. Every nerve in her body was telling her to run, but her mind was telling her to stay. Thankfully, Calaerien had finely tuned her mind so that it was always in control. The black mare waited at the edge of the clearing, with her proud but balanced stance and head held high, for whatever was out there to show. She was prepared to wait until nightfall like this, for she didn't even know if anything was out there. But, better safe than sorry.
