Alone.
Alone again once more.
It was the way it had always been for the hybrid, and it brought the same comfort to him as being in a herd did for others. The sea was a home and a sanctuary that no other of his species could encroach on even if they wanted to. He had left the Riptide Isles almost immediately upon exiting that portal or whatever it was. Was that so-called Earth God really a god? A being of such unimaginable power that could create new land on a whim? He might have been more shocked had he not been an inhabitant of the Rift, a land of chaotic and whimsical Gods. His own physical form was proof of that after all...
A sigh of exasperation escaped his lips as a stream of bubbles as he pondered the current situation fate had landed the him in this time. This was not the Rift he was in anymore. This didn’t even seem to be the same dimension. Whatever it was called, maybe it would be a new start for the hybrid where he wasn’t a feared outcast. Although he preferred solitude, the equine side of him secretly longed to be with others, in a herd.
Putting those thoughts aside, he looked around as his tail propelled him through the water at a relaxed pace, limbs dangling. The water here was clear but cold, and shallow enough to see the bottom but not touch it. Small fish flitted to and fro before him and the muffled sound of water filled his ears. It was getting more shallow as he moved, and the seabed sloped gently upwards ahead of him to show the coast was close now.
There didn’t seem to be movement on the beach above, and he didn’t feel the need to get out and dry out for no reason and so decided to stay in the shallows and float languidly for the time being. Maybe if someone appeared he would set foot on the sands...
