Why does the eye see a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?

The cool water rushed over her hooves and splashed up her ankles. Despite having lived on an island all of her life, there was something nice to be at the world's end. It was pleasant to be standing here; the salty water cooling her legs while the afternoon sun beat down at her back. Each time a wave rolled up and over her hooves the girl would grin feeling refreshed and tread a little further into the salty ocean. When the water reached up to her chest and rushed strongly against her body the girl knew that she should not venture further into the ocean, swimming was not a native idea to the filly. Her wings where spread up, resting on top of the rolling waves. Flying was quickly becoming a normal way of life, every moment that she was up in the air the more comfortable she felt, the stronger she became. The open skies was where she belonged, the iron cages of the land trapped world disappeared underneath her. Dual coloured eyes studied the world around her as the filly preformed a slow spin in the salty waters of the earth.

There was of course a reason for the girl being so far way from home, the missing half of her mind, body and soul. Hawke had not been seen for months, he'd vanished without a trace and she missed him greatly. "Where are you?" Perhaps the wind would pick up her pleas and carry them over to her soul mate. Then again the months of searching that she'd undertaken had all proven to be completely useless, neither her brother or his annoying owl had revealed themselves to her.

Hawke?

If you're there?

I miss you.

Exiting the water the girl moved further up the sands, the heat of the day would dry her within the next few minutes. Ahead a rocky shelf provided shelter from the biting sun, so the girl moved up the beach, heading towards the shadows. As she walked her eyes were trained upon the water, hopefully some aquatic life would show itself. Even if it was only for a moment, Aelin would so love to see a whale! Even turtles sounded exciting. Pausing to watch the shadows under the water the girl became disappointed when a clump of seaweed rose to the surface, it wasn't quite the same as watching a turtle glide through the waves or a whale jumping out of the mysterious ocean depths.

Entering the shade the sandy princess paused by a starfish that had stuck it's to the rocks. A strange creature to be sure, it's white body wrapped around the larger gathered rocks. In this rocky outcrop only the ends of the waves managed to reach within the shade, each time they washed over the starfish the girl wondered if it would become detached. As each wave reached the tips of her hoofs Aelin sighed, wishing that they'd wash in something more interesting. Moving a little deeper into the shade of the outcrop the girl spotted a small pool of seawater, peering down at her reflection the filly stared. Within her colouring and features she could see her father, yet hints of her mother where also present. The small dreamcatcher woven into her mane was tangled within the dark red locks, her fur was covered in sand, grit and dust. Aelin didn't strike fear in the hearts of others, except maybe perfectionists.

Chuckling she turned away from her reflection and returned her eyes to the sea, hoping for a more interesting sight than the one she already knew so well.

Dream as if you'll live forever,
Live as if you'll die today.
