The journey northwest from the Throat to the Edge is largely uneventful, Neph flies with purpose on the great winds as her dark sails carry her forward with the occasional beat. Would they remember her? Would Tembovu remember her from their introductions in the Threshold? She had briefly seen him at the Tiger Goddess fight, but wars were not the place for pleasant conversation and catch up. They were bitter and bloody, for gritted teeth and war cries. For honor and survival. She had seen the great elephant throw his weight into battle from her position in the skies. Such a bloody battle, and she had heard on the winds not all had survived, and not all had walked away with mere scratches and scarring wounds.

She had heard about Erthë, she had seen her fly through the sky at the mercy of the Tiger Goddess' fury. Had she survived? Was she okay? Her meeting with her had been brief and they had not exactly gotten off on the right hoof. If she had survived, and she was well, she would make good on her promise to give the young one a flying lesson.

The warrioress herself had changed, she supported more muscle and definition in her ebony hide from patrols and spars, from the goddess fight herself she had rose with more experience. There was an edge in her eye that told she had see the wrath and ruin of gods, and it had left her marked. The Dragon's Throat had also changed her for the better also, she melt of the heat and sand, of the salt sea and the grit of life upon an arid island. The throat had become her home, and the inhabitants her family, something she hadn't had in a long time. The thoughts made her snort, the golden ring in her nose lightly vibrated in response. It felt different, to have something so permanent pierced in her skin, just as the runic paint that now stained her rump. She had earned it from the battle, just as she had earned the rest through her travels away from Helovia.

Neph exhaled a silent breath, carried away on the winds without so much as a cry. Would she be allowed to see Tembovu and Erthë? Others had spoken of him becoming King, would he be unavailable now in the wake of more higher duties? Would she have to wait? The thoughts make her brows furrow, she would see when she got there, no doubt, no use in fretting away moments on such things. She would find out, soon enough.

The sheer cliff's, forest and broken wall come into sight and she begins her descent, like a great eagle from the lofty mountains, she glides and banks in slow circles. Give any who looked to the skies see that they had a visitor waiting at the borders, she knew better than to simply trudge in as much as she looked forward to seeing them both. Seeing if they were both okay, and more importantly, if they remembered her.

Would they recognize her? She had tried to push out the thoughts, but they came back as she peered into the dense forest that spanned a vast distance in front of the amazonian.

Great wings beat one, twice and then a third before her back hooves connected with the soft earth — careful to avoid any shards. Black and fire touched tresses landed and pooled around her feet, the thick braid in her mane slapped against her shoulder as the rest of it fell into place in their usual thick waves. Black and gold feathered wings stretched towards the sky to shake the last of the tension from their appendages and then fitted against her sides as snugly as they could for their giant size.

"Tembovu!" She called, loud and unabashed into the cloaking mists and foliage. Dual toned eyes searched at the same time, they looked for the slightest sign of movement and momentum from within the canopy. After a moment, she tried another name, but this one was more unsure despite the confidence her voice carried.

"Erthë!"

“She was beautiful, but she was beautiful in the way a forest fire was beautiful: something to be admired from a distance, not up close.”
