underneath it all, we're just savages Life here ain’t half bad, you decide as the palm fronds sway above you and a light breeze tousels your mane. That’s the stuff, you think, and you sigh aloud in satisfaction. Gods, island living suits you. You’ve concluded that between the sun and the grub, any fool would be set for life—but wait, there’s more! Ocean views from every room in the place, a jungle to explore, weird creatures that wash up on the beach…the list goes on. But best of all: no neighbors. Not only did that make the island a perfect little love shack, but it made it easy to drive away any unwanted visitors. From your spot in the shade, you can look out to the ocean, ready to send any filthy unicorns packing. Your eyes narrow in vicious pleasure as they flit over to the mess of coconuts and palm fruits you have stockpiled along the beach—perfect to pelt them with, should they dare to disturb your domain. There’s really only one thing that could make this place better. It’s the perfect starter set for your own personal Playboy Mansion…except that the ladies are kind of missing. Well, except for Firebug, you concede with a smirk. It was thanks to her that you had properly christened the island, you remember oh-so-vividly. For just a moment, you close your eyes, enjoying the mental image of that perky little a— Wait. Something goes off in the back of your brain, and your eyes snap open immediately, scanning the horizon for any would-be invaders. It is unclear whether it is scent, sound, or paranoia that interrupted your fantasy, but you get the feeling that you’re not alone. Still looking around, you reach for the nearest coconut. Any bastard who thinks he can sneak up on you had better get ready for a nice surprise. "talk talk talk" |
