Gull!
underneath it all, we're just savages From the cool shade of the palm trees, he rested, watching and waiting. It was surprisingly infrequent that intruders disturbed these shores, but even still Gull was ready. His stockpiles of coconuts and palm fruits lay scattered along the treeline, laden high with arsenal. Sometimes the fruit rotted under the sun, but he figured that it didn’t matter. The more disgusting, the better. The winged stag had already greeted one unwelcome visitor with a shower of berries, and he found that he rather enjoyed watching his victims flailing about beneath his fruity rain of terror. When he saw the smudge appear on the horizon, he blinked once, as if to assure himself that it wasn’t the sun playing tricks on him. But the lone figure didn’t disappear, only moved steadily towards him. Roused from his post, Gull trotted over to his nearest stockpile and grabbed a palm frond loaded with berries. Luckily for the intruder, these were relatively fresh. Still though, they were round, hard, green little suckers that might leave a few bruises if he aimed right. Teeth bared around the branch, Gull grinned in anticipation before galloping down the beach and into the sky. As he flew towards the intruder, his suspicions were confirmed: another blasted unicorn, come to disturb the peace. Not on my watch, buddy, Gull thought, and he swung into a lazy circle overhead, ready to unload the full measure of his wrath in fruit. “HEY!” he barked as best as he could around the frond in his mouth. It came out a little garbled and rather less intimidating than he would have liked, but hopefully it got the beast’s attention. Vigorously, Gull shook the branch as he passed above, sending the berries flying to the earth. If luck was on his side, perhaps some would even find their target. "talk talk talk" |
