Those who stand for nothing fall for anything.
More appeared, silently awaiting in excitement (—trepidation?—) for the coming of the Moon. It was a silent wait, none daring to speak lest the interrupt the concentration of their Seer. And they did not wait in vain, suddenly the strangely familiar (for the King had met the Moon fewer times than he had hooves) purr danced through the mists. The silken voice was sharp as diamonds, and suddenly she appeared behind Cloak— the King’s navy eyes snapped to her as she condensed from the fog.

He awaited for his Seer to speak, but it silence stretched. If the Moon’s magic affected Alune similarly to how it affected Tembovu, he could understand the silence. The Elephant had been trapped in the cold, dark magic of the night; it was a wondrously powerful thing, but once it sank its claws in, it didn’t let go. A ripple passed over his buckskin hide at the memory of him being stuck in the darkness, when he had tried to build too many glass spikes along the northern borders of the Edge…

He shook the memory free, instead bowing his great head to the level of his broad chest. Massive horn sliced through the mists, leaving clear air in its wake. “My Lady,” his low voice rumbled in a respectful greeting, before raising his skull to its great height once again.

He is careful to not allow his eyes to sweep the dangerously feminine body of the Moon; though the stallion parts of him desire to do so. He compromises, allowing a sweep of her lithe, lavender shoulders and graceful wings while he awaits for his Seer to speak.

But the silence continues, so a half step is taken towards the Goddess, before thick lips part and his deep voice rolls into the mist, “Thank you for gracing us with your presence,” perhaps that was laying it on a tad too thick, but the Elephant was unused to dealing with deities, “I have questions about both alliances and protection of the Edge. Elsa and I have recently formed a tentative alliance with the Basin— do you care for us to bother you before making such treaties? Or do we have autonomy to exercise our judgement as leaders?” He paused, dark blue eyes glancing to Elsa as he mentioned her name, before continuing, “And our borders are still unprotected, after the shattering of the glass wall. I would like to see them better guarded, and started building glass spikes. But our borders are too vast and they would trap us in… Would you guide us towards better enforcements?” Like what, King? Think! Spikes to the east and… “Perhaps a moat?” A moat to the south could be crossed in the event of fire or other emergency.

He fell silent, uncertain if the Moon would remain to answer his questions. Briefly, he felt a flash of homesickness— in Dorobo one did not need to address the gods.
