When had she last been here? Was it when the sun shone brighter and the air was drier, hotter? She could only assume so. It was the height of a different season, another time, when Helovia was newer to her and so were her duties as a healer. She had met a couple of fellow healers, but remembered their pets better than them.

She remembered being soaked at one point, drying in the summer sun and chatting with an onyx colored mare and her deer-thing. She doubted she would run into the same horses, but part of her wished for it. She was getting tired of seeing only new faces, then having them vanish as soon as they came. The only continuity she found was in her job, in her healing, her motives. She was still here, still hunting for herbs, as she had last time.

The duchess let her musings of the past settle, dissipate to let her focus on the task at hand. She set her glass basket by her hooves, moving from her place to gather herbs. She left a trail of petals in the air and flowers on the ground, for they grew constantly in her hair now. She picked bark from a willow tree, and plucked echinacea from it's hold on the earth. She figured each would be useful in the coming winter months.

She placed the herbs in her basket, then simply went back to gather more. Her motions were thoughtless, purposeful, though if one were to look a bit closer, they might notice the melancholy slowly overtaking her features.
