i'm like the end of a hitchcock movie; a little dark and a lot deceiving
Tae was grounded.

Sort of.

Not really, but...

The mandible-marked filly looked over her shoulder, half expecting to see Kygo flitting around. She wouldn't put it past Ampere to send the loud bird to follow her, and given the amount of 'trouble' that she and Grusha had been in lately, being tailed wouldn't be out of the question.

The only thing was ... Tae didn't agree. Of course there are times in every child's life when they are punished. But in most instances that at least knew what rules they were breaking before they broke them, so that when they were caught, the punishment at least seemed fitting. But lately for Tae, she found herself in trouble for things that she thought might be considered honourable. Saved a wolf-pups life? NOPE. Companion bonding is always bad. Tried to save my big brother from a half-crazy demi-God? NOPE. Should have stayed put and let the adults handle it.

So no, the girl wasn't grounded, but she was trying to fly under the radar. At least for a little while, so that she could go back to exploring. The last thing that she wanted to do was have Ampere or Zero or Gaucho find her and Grusha's stash of bones, simply because they were keeping an eye on her.

Oh they could watch all right. Watch her play in the sand, splash in the waves, and do a ton of other harmless boring things. Maybe then they would lighten up. Part of the small filly understood - she agreed with Ampere when she said that she had a lot to learn about the world. Tae wasn't one to ignore her own ignorance, but at the same time ... She knew she had big hoof-prints to fill. But she wasn't going to fill them the way that they already were. She needed to be her own mare first ... needed to make mistakes and just be a kid, at least for now.

She felt that she was simultaneously being told to smarten up and grow up, and to also just relax and be a child.

Caught in the middle, Tae (and Grusha) had been nothing but trouble.

Tae was currently kicking sand into the water. It amazed her that regardless of how much sand she kicked, the sand on the beach always appeared to be the same, and so did the water. Neither seemed any more full, or less full, for all of her efforts. A Frostfall chill was in the air, but the girl ignored it. It was relatively early in the season, and the Throat was still warm enough that the chill was not intolerable. At her side, Mal, the black wolf pup watched with rapt attention as the sand disappeared into the water. Earlier he had tried to catch the granules without much success, and having learned his lesson, now merely sat and watched Tae tirelessly continue to try and destroy the beach.
