It doesn't matter, doesn't matter if I scare you
I only wanted, only wanted someone else's skin

Being grounded sucked.
Being in trouble sucked.
Not being understood sucked.
Being told what to do sucked.
Not being listened to sucked.
Being told that you can't do something because you're young sucked.

There were a plethora of other things that Grusha thought sucked, but none of them came close to Ma. She sucked the most with her yelling and her shouting, her not understanding, and her telling them they couldn't do shit because they were foals, and her threats. It certainly didn't make Grusha want to spend any more time than necessary around her. She would suckle and have her meals and then she'd wander away and keep her distance because she was mad. There was a whole big ol' world out there and she couldn't go see it because Ma grounded them for saving wolf pups and accidentally bonding to them. Oh, and she thought Pop sucked, too, for just agreeing with Ma and not standing up for his daughters.

Whatever.

When Grusha and Tae grew up little bit and showed their parents how strong they really were it would shut them up real fast. They'd wonder why they ever doubted the twins.

Oh, but she knew that she was being watched. That was part of being grounded, wasn't it? Ma and Pop and big brother and their companions watched you and made sure you didn't do anything that would cause trouble. That was yet another thing that sucked. She couldn't hunt or play with the bones she had collected because Ma might find them. If she was so upset about her children being bonded how would she feel about her daughters killing small animals and collecting their bones?

She'd lay another egg, for sure.

So Grusha had to spend her time wandering around with Nashoba, engaging in games of chase when she was bored enough. Sometimes she stood and stared across the ocean at the land on the other side and pouted because she wanted to be out there instead of locked inside the Throat. Other times she would lay in the sand and soak up the sun or roll and get her hair more and more tangled. More often than not, however, she would seek out her twin just for company. That was the case now. She saw Tae standing on the beach kicking sand into the water and so she wandered over and watched because there was nothing else to do when you were grounded.
