Merialeth Merialeth's first thought was that change was exciting. Sometime later in her life the girl would probably find herself to be confused to find that there were those who dreaded it. Merialeth had heard many things but only seen the walls of red that housed her. She felt left out of so many things. That was why she had kicked. Each kick had been a demand or a plea; each had cried 'let me out' or 'I am here too'. So whenever she finally felt herself moving past the outrageously boring place Merialeth wiggled in joy. Before leaving them Merialeth gave one last kick. It served the place right for keeping her there for so long. The first sensation that the world greeted Merialeth with was the icy breath of Frostfall. In return she gave it her first breath. After that breath she opened her grey eyes to see the blue of the sky, the deep brown bark of a tree, the vibrant white of snow, so many different things vied for her attention. Outside of the walls was not what she had expected. Merialeth tried to decide if she liked it. Eyes squinted to protect against the sunlight of her first day Merialeth's ears flopped about searching for one of the many sounds that she had been so curious about. It was a more important matter than everything else that called out for her attention. There were voices that she had came to know well. Would they still be with her now that she had left those walls? "Oh how much I love you." An elated whinny leapt from her lips! The girl tried to mimic the sounds that the voice had made but it was only gibberish that came from her own lips. The foal's pink nose scrunched up in confusion. Why were their sounds so different? Merialeth took a moment to focus and tried again. Still nothing like the voice. In a fit of frustration she allowed her body to flop over into the snow and pouted. She liked how it, the snow, felt. Merialeth would have a fondness for the cold snowy lands even into mare-hood. The snow and the feeling of the voice's body licking her clean were wonderful but there was still something that did not feel okay. Opening her eyes again Merialeth looked at the voice and cocked her head. Would it know what it was that she needed? Suddenly a gurgling sound came from the girl's stomach and her mouth dropped. Wide eyed she looked to the one who had always been there. Surely it would have the answer. Was there something wrong with her? Maybe she was meant to stay in those walls! Maybe by leaving she had broken somehow! Now would her stomach always make that ugly growling noise and feel so wrong? The New Flower |
