DECEMBER
& this is Carl

The reaction the tiger mare had towards the filly was one December didn't really know how much to respond to. She reared back as if being touched by something hot, and she made it clear she wasn't pleased with it. Before she could stop herself December pressed forward, stepping closer to Ru in an attempt to keep guard should the mare decide to retaliate. Instead she simply regained and distance more comfortable for herself, before speaking to the child as if she were dumb. Ears began to flatten upon her skull and eyes narrowed. Obviously this pegasus didn't know anything about foals... at all. Or perhaps she was misunderstanding that just because the child didn't communicate normally that she was somehow dumb, though this thought only made her even more irritated. With a lash of her tail she snorted, lifting her head and speaking firmly to this mare,"You act as if she's dumb. Just because she can't or chooses not to speak does not make her an idiot." She had tried to keep her calm, to not come off as too protective towards the child, but it was so hard when there was someone belittling them just because of their apparent dislike for children.

She stepped back after a moment, trying to calm herself and her nerves, Carl pacing beside her with a look of fire in his eyes, ready for her command to just let one rip on her pretty white face. But much to his dismay no such command came, and he only watched as she finally calmed herself, before addressing the striped one once more in that same monotone,"I apologize for my rude outburst Maren. It was not polite of me to say things in such a manner, but I still feel that you are treating her inappropriately." The lass was just too damn honest for her own good. She could have left it at the apology but her blunt side kicked in, and the rest came following after. Maybe there was some part inside of her that was trying to assert dominance, but at the end of the day, December honestly didn't give a shit who won, so long as she could go home to her loving family and cherish the fact that she had a happy life.

She managed to keep her composure for now, watching the filly as she tried to listen to them both, being polite and attentive all at once, despite Maren's condescending nature towards her. Her irritability began to rise again, and it hit its peak once the mare offered a deal to the girl. Was this some sort of fucking competition to her? To offer the girl a stupid boat ride just to get her to like her? Sure she was trying to get a name out of her, that made sense, but what in her right mind made her think she would have to bribe someone for their name? Surely she wasn't that desperate. December would think the Throat would teach their herd members better than that. With a snort she watched the ivory and rust lady with a look of distrust and suspicion, feeling no need to feign any like towards her at this point. The bitch was being selfish and needy, and it made the mare wanna kick her in that dainty little face of hers.

Yet she didn't say a word at this point, only looked to the girl who seemed to agree (because what child wouldn't agree to something so fun?) before running off in one direction. She watched with a sudden attentiveness only a mother could truly possess, before finally studying what she had brought back to them. Her hoof so small pointed to the roots, making the grey slowly bring her nose down to it, sniffing the contents before looking tenderly to the filly once again. There was a connection to these things and her name obviously, but would someone really name their child Roots? The thought almost made the woman chuckle to herself, yet all she did was smirk and inquire," Your name sounds like something to do with roots then?"
