Loath to admit it as she was, Orithia was glad that her patrol assignment was in the Heart Caves. Uumalah had only ever experienced Frostfall in the lightest sense and the desert lass had yet to acclimate to the plummeting temperatures. Stamping her hooves and shaking the frost from her mane, the ivory mare allowed herself a moment to revel in the warmth that filled the caves. Pastel eyes sliding over the darkened corners and dancing shadows cast by various fires, Orithia wondered at what sort of beast had carved such a vast space. With a shake of her dished face, the mare abandoned her curiosity and started forward; she had no time for silly musings or wanton thoughts.
She was beginning to think that Helovia was turning her soft.
As she began her patrol at a light jog, the blushed lass pointedly ignored the other equines who had gathered within the confines of the cave; they were not her commanding officers and they were not her assigned partners and therefore, they meant nothing to her. Sliding into the rhythm of purpose, she found, was surprisingly easy. She had never been given a purpose before, never been given the opportunity to mold the raw emotion that flooded her into something more, something useful.
But she wouldn't lie to herself, she would never be able to fool herself into thinking that there was something at all worthwhile or loving hidden within. The pleasure houses had made sure to strip that sort of morality from her with a thorough ferocity. Maybe, though, just maybe, the blushed woman could hone herself into something more useful beneath the careful guidance of her Elephant King.
