It was the giggling that woke the girl from the trance of loneness. Her head comes up, dripping with the crystal water, and curled ears come forward. If ever there was any doubt she was actually lonely, it was plainly seen in her absolute happiness of it being over. It could have been a predator over there and she still would have looked with that view of pensive hope. Wings ruffled at her sides, shivering with anticipation, but it was a moment before she saw the other creature. The whinny reached her first, and she returned it, though hers decidedly more light and delighted.  

The light dancing about the caverns flirted on the form of another, and the girl stands practically at attention as they come forward. The mannerisms of her kind conditioned into her well, and being a moment so anticipated they dominated. Her head held high, slightly tucked, her ears forward, wings smoothly tucked back up against her. Only her own magic betrayed her, as the breeze pulled energetically at her mane. When she spoke it came with a practiced flow, washing out like cool ocean breeze. “Hello there.”

As the other stepped forward more the light settled on her, glowing into view her features. And look! Wings! The tasseled tail behind her gave a quick whisp of excitement. After seeing such strange creatures about this place the poor girl had been a bit scared she wouldn’t find any who looked like her, yet here one was! Not to mention the other was shorter, and undeniably younger. How easing that was. All this time she had seen only adults, and though she was one herself, it was delightful to find someone who might be more excited about this whole thing as she was.

The girl comes to a stop and the curled eared mare dips her head. And then, for a moment she panics. You see, the pearl always had something to say, some question or thought ready to bubble out. Yet, be it anxiety, anticipation, or out of practice, she catches herself. So she looks away, a bit ashamed. What would father say to one of his being unable to hold even a conversation. Light flashes in her eyes from the cascading water, and her mind jumps to conclusion, spitting out a little less gracefully than before. “A lovely waterfall is it not?” She turns back with a small smile, feeling proud of herself.

Then her mind starts really working. At last it remembers how these things usually go. “Oh and my name is Adria.” She dips her head as she does, feathers fluffing slightly with the so practiced manner. And the then the pearl sighs softly, to herself, and the wind across her back settles slightly. The relief kept to herself, but undeniable in its reality.
