Elsa

She closed her eyes as she leaned against the tree. Elsa focused on the rough bark, and the patterns it imprinted onto her skin. Literally, this is what she had descended into. A babbling, psychotic idiot. Edgar once again pushed the bounds of her mind, trying to force his way back in. Alas just as roughly she pushed him back, and this time he didn’t fight. He fell silent, and left his bonded alone to mope. She couldn’t say he didn’t try, because he was trying really hard to make her feel loved. She was just too cold to see that he, as well as Tembovu, actually cared what happened to her. He didn’t know Tembovu’s inner workings as well as Elsa’s, but he seemed genuine. Edgar approved. 

The silence hurt, but it wrapped her in a comfort she had been longing for. It was the only thing to envelope her wholly. But a voice broke into her thoughts, and her eyes split open as she looked up to the owner of the voice. She knew who it was even before she opened her eyes, but part of her didn’t believe it.

Yet here he was, standing there, calling her name. But he stayed away. Don’t-don’t… so many negative things began crossing her mind. This was it, this was him making up for his mistake. She was not truly wanted. It took effort to keep her bottom lip from trembling, and it practically hurt to offer a smile. It didn’t reach her eyes, but it was an attempt. He looked defeated, both physically and mentally.

Elsa remained quiet, her mind debating what to do. Should she try? Should she try to make him stay? Her bottom lip visibly trembled for a moment. Fuck this, if she was going down she’d go down burning. Taking a few steps closer she forced herself back underneath his head, curling into his chest. ”Please don’t say you’re leaving… please. I need you.” It was a childish plea and she shied away into his shoulder. She needed to memorize this feeling, this moment, it might just be her last.

For a split second the bond between her and Edgar was reopened, and upon seeing the scene, Edgar forgot all about his bondeds pain. Instead, he took note of the companion with him. He knew Elsa had noticed, and inside she just wanted to play and snuggle with it, but she was so desperately afraid of being left. She did love Tembovu, whether she would admit it or not. Tembovu was secretly her first priority.

But Edgar would not let the companion go unnoticed. He quickly made his way towards them, swooping down to land in front of the chunky grey creature. He offered a small peep, and waved his wing. Part of him wanted to herd this giant off, so he could get to know her better, and give Elsa more space. If he denied her, and left her shattered, he couldn’t be sure that the shrapnel wouldn’t hurt those around her.

Tembovu had replaced part of her heart that had been stolen and destroyed. If he disappeared now, she would be heartless- literally. He was the second chance she thought she’d never get. Elsa was stupid though, and she always assumed the worst. Like now, she was so terrified of being denied that she didn’t realize the potential all this held.
